Do you have a tooth that is chipped, damaged or discoloured? A simple way of masking this so you can smile with confidence is a veneer. At Hyslop Dental, we provide veneers for Southport and its surrounding areas helping regain your healthy, natural and beautiful smile.

Veneers are thin, custom-made shells crafted of tooth-coloured materials designed to cover the front side of teeth to improve the overall appearance of teeth. They are made of either thin plastic resin or porcelain and can be placed to do any of the following:

  • Correct poorly formed or mildly mal-positioned teeth
  • Close gaps between teeth
  • Mask internal stains
  • Restore partially broken-down teeth

What happens when I get a veneer in Southport from Dental Hyslop?

Tooth preparation is minimal and mostly painless when our qualified professionals at Dental Hyslop fit veneers in Southport. The preparation is confined to the enamel structure where a mere 5 milimetres will be removed so the veneer can be placed on top and not stick out unnaturally.

Once this is complete the veneer is bonded to the tooth structure with tooth-coloured resin cement. Several visits are necessary to complete treatment.

Patients should be aware that this is usually an irreversible process because it is necessary to remove a small amount of enamel from your teeth to accommodate the shell. However, the upside of this is that, unless your teeth are not properly looked after with adequate dental hygiene, it is very rare for veneers to become loose or detach from your tooth.

All our procedures are carried out by qualified dentists who have many years of experience fitting veneers.

Why might I wish to get a veneer on my teeth?

There are many reasons why a tooth might become disfigured or discoloured. It could happen by accident, with age or from a lack of maintenance to your teeth and gums. However, regardless of the reason, veneers can provide a solution. If you are conscious about the appearance of your teeth, veneers are a simple and straightforward way of masking the problem. They will provide you with a perfect smile once again.

More information about dental veneers:

Veneers will last between five and fifteen years with proper maintenance, including cleaning the gum and areas surrounding the tooth. They are strong enough to resist everyday wear and tear from chewing and drinking – although they can become stained with the regular consumption of wine, coffee, tobacco, etc. Furthermore, veneers will be specifically fitted to look natural in your mouth – they won’t look out of place next to your other teeth – and feel no different from an ordinary tooth.

‘I just want to say Thank you so much for the super job you have done on my front teeth – I never thought they could look this good again! You have made them look so good and I am very grateful to you and Michelle for all the care you have given to me. I would also like to say, not even in my wildest dreams would I have described a dental surgery as being ‘homely’ yet I feel yours does – you and the staff have made that difference!’
